How to increase your Instagram Followers

get ig followers

Getting Instagram followers is hard, I should know. I actually made an Instagram for my blog 3 times, and deleted it twice. The last time I deleted my Instagram, I decided to connect my blog with my personal instagram, but I felt like I was spamming my friends so I ended up creating my Instagram 15 weeks ago and have 99 followers. So, what’s the key to getting Instagram followers? I decided to ask Jennifer from what her secret was. Jennifer has 10K+ followers on Instagram.

The Interview

1) What is your blog about and why did you start it?

I think nearly every blogger has that moment where they ask themselves if they should really start a blog and put themselves out there ; I certainly did, and I’m really happy I made that decision. My blog is a place where I can document my ideas, opinions, and life, all while sharing it with others who may be interested. I started my blog in February of 2015.  It has been live for only a few short months, but already I’ve been very fortunate and I’ve been welcomed with open arms by the blogging community. > You can visit her blog here

2) How did you get so many followers? What advice do you have for others?

Background : My account started as an account dedicated to Sofie, my Shih Tzu, and Havoc, my Doberman Pinscher. I decided to make the account more about myself and my life in general, and at the time of the transition I had nearly 520 followers. Fast Forward 13 weeks, and we’re well on our way to the big 10k!  I try to follow every account that follows me, but that can be difficult due to Instagram’s restrictions so the next best thing is interacting with as many people as possible. I try to reply to every comment, and show everyone love, but because there are so many notifications coming through at once, you’re bound to miss one here and there and sometimes feelings can get hurt. Do your best, be sincere, be appreciative, listen to your followers and don’t be afraid to ask for advice from someone who has a more established account than yours. People will follow you if you’re worth following, and if you offer something they’re interested in.

3) What type of accounts do you follow?

I enjoy following many accounts that range from travel and scenery, to beauty and fashion. I find that I gravitate more towards beauty, reviews, pets, and fashion oriented accounts. I love bloggers and Instagrammers who aren’t afraid of being themselves and allowing others to see them at their not-so-best.  People who reply to my comments, even with a simple “thank you”, are the accounts I’m more apt to continue to follow. A few off of the top of my head are nikkitutorials, thefancylifestyleofkatharina, thefancylifestyleofconstance, beingmrsfowler, francespenny, and amandabrezovsky.  Of course I love following accounts like Ipsy, Birchbox, Wantable, BoxyCharm, and Rocksbox; all of the subscription boxes I’m currently subscribed to.

4) What can people expect from your Instagram?

People who follow my account are going to see a little bit of everything.  I love my family, my pets, my friends, makeup, clothes, jewelry, handbags, shoes, nail polish, food, bubble tea, Starbucks, shopping, DIY projects, organization, and subscription boxes.  So far, the majority of my posts have revolved around makeup, fashion, and some subscription box reviews, but my account is just getting started, and there’s a lot more to come; this is true for my blog, too.

My D.I.Y. Kate Spade glitter earrings tutorial is one of my favorite posts on my blog; I’m so happy with the way all of these beauties turned out.  This is the collage I created to post on Instagram as a promo.  Who doesn’t love Kate Spade?! jen 2 This picture means a lot to me because it’s the one that Julep used and posted on their own Instagram!  I’m a big fan of Julep, and I was honored they even thought to ask if they could use this photo to promote their Length Matters mascara.  This totally made my day! jen 3  This is one of my favorite outfits and style posts.  Red is my favorite color, and I just adore the pattern on this tank.  The color combo is perfect for me.  Both tops came from Express, and are still available in stores! jen 4 Rounding out my top four posts is this gem (HAH!).  I contoured for the first time a few days ago, and I have to say it was quite an adventure.  The details are available on my Instagram account, Thanks Jennifer for sharing all of your wonderful tips & giving us a peek into your life. Now, I’m off to interact with as many Instagrammers as I can 😉
