Regency Restaurant in Brighton Pier

Day 2 { Brighton Pier }   Brighton pier was about two hours away and reminded me of San Francisco and Santa Monica, just with less rides. I wanted to try Fish and Chips (Thanks Sham for letting me know about it). So, Jennifer looked up a Fish and Chips restaurant and we headed towards that direction.  Regency Restaurant 131 King’s Road, Brighton, East Sussex BN1 2HH, United Kingdom What we ordered Yay! My fish & Chips! Mostly everyone in the restaurant was hunched over and enjoying this delicious dish. Out of four people (Me, Tom, Poppy, and Jennifer) 3 of us got Fish and Chips while Jennifer got the chicken. We also all got the Cod, and I remember there was another option. It was amazingly good, I only like Salmon but I was so in love with this dish. From now on, I’m going to YELP some Fish & Chip places in Long Beach and eat there.   Price: £5.25 !!!! So surprised that it was so CHEAP.  Jennifers chicken. I didn’t see it on the restaurant …

Wildwood Restaurant, Maidstone

37-41 Earl Street, Maidstone ME14 1PF, United Kingdom +44 1622 755339 Wildwood Restaurant First of all, England is so expensive. Of course, I knew that… but I didn’t know to which extent. As Tom is vegetarian, we were limited to certain restaurant choices and decided to come here. Since Tom and his parents rented a cottage in the countryside, we had to drive about 30 minutes to get here. The restaurant itself was very cozy and nice.  What we ordered Wild Mushroom & Truffle Oil Pizza £9.95 = 15.55 USD I’m usually very easy when it comes to food, but this was horrible. Please do not order it! We couldn’t taste the Truffle Oil at all. Jennifer expected it to taste like the Truffle pizza at CPK, but we were both very disappointed with it. She even said that, “We could make a better pizza at home.”  Chicken Burger £9.95 = 15.55 USD This def helped the sour mood after the pizza. The chicken was cooked to perfection, and it filled me up. Margherita Pizza £6.95 = …

On our way to England!

En route… England! As you all know, I’ve only been home for about less than two weeks – so I’m severely jet lagged. I’m actually surprised I haven’t developed an addiction to Nyquil yet since I take it so regularly now. Also, I’m still recovering from Taiwan where I became deadly ill. As my sister reaches the old age of 24, she won’t be able to travel for free so… we decided to take some last minute trips to Europe. Her flights will end on January 12th, so we both expect to do some traveling before then.  I don’t really have any warm clothing since our winter in California is like Hong Kong’s winter. On the day of our flight, we rushed to Sears and bought me some boots before heading home to quickly pack. I packed two peacoats and one sweater. That was seriously all the winter clothing I had! Also, thanks to Nancy and Sham I was able to have two gloves and one scarf. We arrived to Heathrow airport on Monday, and left on Friday.  I’m typing this …

Suzuki Cafe Company 鈴木珈啡館

Suzuki Cafe Company   Shop L407, 4/F, The ONE, 100 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui For Jane and I’s last meal together, I was debating between Cafe Habitu or another place that was near the avenue of stars (overlooking the harbor). I meant to send her the two different websites so she could browse the menu, but I made a mistake and sent the Cafe Habitu website to her twice… so we decided to just meet up there. Cafe Habitu is located in THE ONE shopping mall in TST; but after trying to find it for a while we gave up and chose Cafe Suzuki. We chose it out of plenty of other restaurants because it looked inexpensive, there was a dinner set, and they had just completed their outside patio. Sadly, it was raining that day so we were not able to sit outside, and the view was blocked… but it wasn’t too bad as the restaurant , itself, was very cute and classy.  The Menu Click here to see the full menu  What we ordered:   …

Mong Kok Food Diaries : Ocio Dessert

MK FOOD DIARIES: Dessert @ Ocio Shop 5, G/F, Tsui Yuen Mansion, Phase2, 2-20 Kwong Wa Street ,Mong Kok 旺角廣華街2-20號翠園大廈二期地下5號鋪 https://www.facebook.com/OCIOKITCHEN It was very hard for me to find a good dessert place in Hong Kong, I just grew accustomed to eating the hot fudge sundae and calling that “dessert”. Thanks to Sham’s friend, we were introduced to Ocio! Lucky for me, it’s close to my hostel so we made sure to visit it another time before I left.  On the outside, it looks quite plain and small but inside it was so cozy and homey! Everytime we went, there were these two men working and their service was quite good. Our water cups were always full and they were more than happy to explain the menu to us! I liked them so much that I followed them on Instagram and now on Facebook (where I got the first picture from).  I really wanted to take Jane here for our last meal together, but decided on something else at the last minute. Ocio also carries …

BLT BURGER Review TST

BLT BURGER, TST Shop OT301-301A, 3/F, Ocean Terminal, Harbour City, 17 Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui For Tom’s last dinner in Hong Kong we decided to head to TST and eat at BLT BURGER. Since Tom had no clue where he wanted to go, Rachel took it upon herself to find a restaurant that took AMEX (for me), had vegetarian food (for Tom) and Western food. We wanted to go somewhere nice, so we all agreed on choosing TST. Now, I’ve ate at 2 other burger places : The Diner and BURGEROOM (twice) and out of all of them… I think BLT Burger was my favorite. They are all around the same price, but I love BLT BURGER because 1. It is in a better area (larger), 2. It has a great all day burger combo deal, and 3. It tastes better and has more options when it comes to food.  Out of all three restaurants… I think the DINER is the worst one.  Click below for more food pictures + All day Burger Combo Pic

Mong Kok Food Diaries

My diet consists of : Ramen + Burgers Since moving to Mong Kok, I’ve actually SAVED more money. I didn’t think this was possible, since Mong Kok is such a big place and known for having plenty of tourists. But, tucked behind Ladies Market is a foodie’s Heaven! Jane and I made the plan to eat at every place behind Ladies Market and we almost did eat at every place… every ramen place, that is.  So, every Monday Jane and I would try a different restaurant but we always had our favorites and this was our favorite place for the first month. Near the end of my trip, we found another place that we really loved but I’ll save that for another post.  It still is hard for me and Jane to find our ramen place, because there are so many ramen places right next to each other that it gets confusing at times. It also doesn’t help that each place looks very similar and the only way we could tell them apart is by …

Taiwan Food Diary: Watami Japanese Restaurant

Watami Taiwan After visiting Longshan Temple and failing to visit the rest of the places we wanted to go due to the rain, we decided to walk around the night market and then eat dinner. “Our last meal has to be nice and classy!” So, after walking past several restaurants, we decided to try Watami. On the outside, the restaurant looked very spacious and nice, and I’m happy to say the inside was even better. There were private rooms and the staff was friendly.   The prices weren’t too bad, I’m sure if we were in HK they would be more expensive. Sushi was about 240 NT = 7.74 USD. My favorite part was their service button! This was the first restaurant outside of KBBQ in SOCAL that had one. Everytime we needed to order something, we would just press it and a waitress would arrive. I got the salmon sushi and it was decent. I would recommend getting something else though. I was full after three pieces…   Because the sushi wasn’t enough, I decided …

Taipei 101 + Din Tai Fung

Taipei 101 + Din Tai Fung   Price: 500 NT per person / $16 USD Rachel and I decided to see Taipei 101, not really knowing what to expect. I have to admit that I do think it is pretty cool compared to Victoria Peak (in HK) as it has the fastest elevator in the world. Imagine going from the fifth floor to the 89th-floor observatory in only 37 seconds! Our ears popped, but it was very well worth it.  It was raining that day, so we couldn’t go up on the highest level – so we had to view Taipei from inside but it wasn’t too bad. The pictures I captured on my phone turned out better than my camera; but overall I’m not really one for sight-seeing in the first place so although it was nice to visit once – I will not go again.     Din Tai Fung   After seeing Taipei 101, we decided to stop by Din Tai Fung to grab dinner. We didn’t know much about it… we just …

Travel Diary – Taiwan Day 1

{ First Day in Taiwan } I love Taiwan! It reminds me of Vietnam, only more modern. I love the motorcycles mixed in with the cars – the cheap food and all the night markets. I actually prefer it over Hong Kong, but I do think the weather is a bit too humid for my taste. Tomai took me to one of her favorite breakfast places near school. Our meal was only 2 dollars combined! I had the green onion pancakes, and she had the ham and cheese pancake. She had tea while I had orange juice. I loved my green onion pancake, it was so crispy and wasn’t dry at all! I was surprised to have it with egg, because I’ve had it at some korean restaurants but haven’t had the Taiwanese version before so that was a good touch. Getting Our Hair Shampooed. Usually in Vietnam, I always get my hair shampooed. It usually only costs about 2-3 USD dollars, and it lasts about 30 minutes or more because it comes with …
