Settembrini Cafe, Rome.

Settembrini Cafe Via Luigi Settembrini 25 00195 Rome Italy YELP   Ahhh Italy, known for its pizza, coffee, pasta and gelato! My sister promised me that we would “eat gelato three times a day, and drink coffee twice a day.” Sadly, that wasn’t the case. We only had gelato once a day and coffee twice a day, but I’m not complaining.  We arrived at our hotel at 8 am, check in was at 2 PM so we had 6 hours to kill. After we dropped off our suitcases, we decided to make a coffee run and explore the neighborhood. My sister had tediously planned our trip using tripadvisor.com so we were prepared with a list of coffee places to try. Settembrini was only a few minutes away so after a little trip to a small swap meet (farmers market?) we stopped in for a cup of coffee.

Teawood – TST

Teawood Review 2 Carnarvon Plaza, 20 Granville Road, Tsim Sha Tsui I only went here for the brick toast. Look at it… it looks better than anything I’ve ever seen.  Jim asked Jane and I if we finally wanted to meet his girlfriend so we decided to meet up in TST. I’ve wanted to try Teawood for a while and was waiting to eat there with Sham & Nancy but as luck would have it – Jim’s girlfriend took us here! The place was soo nice. I found out that there was one in Mong Kok also that just recently opened, too bad I never got to eat there again. We made it right on time, because after we were seated… there was literally a line out the door!  Their drink menu was very large and we each got a different drink. What we ordered Sorry, the details are fuzzy since this was a month ago 😦 My strawberry drink. It was really good! Jane’s chocolate drink. I actually wish I got this instead. Jim and …

Snow Story – Mong Kok Food Diaries

Snow Story G/F, 119 Tung Choi Street, Mong Kok   The thing I missed most about Cali were all the yummy desserts we had. By simply driving 15 minutes, I could choose between macaron icecream, brick toast, hot warm cookie topped with vanilla bean icecream or all sorts of boba. Surprisingly, my friends and I found it hard to find dessert places in HK (maybe we weren’t looking hard enough?). So, after moving to MK I decided to venture out by myself and found Snow Story.  I had no one to go with, and I’m still not a fan of eating by myself so I decided to wait. Finally, Jim and I were able to go to Snow Story. I felt bad, I dragged him around while we got lost. But luckily, I didn’t give up and we finally were able to find it. The Menu   We were not able to choose our macaron flavors, so we were only able to choose our icecream flavor. The macaron was not good at all, it was …

Cafe Retour – Mong Kok Food Diaries

Cafe Retour Ground No.6 Ting Choi Street, Mong Kok If Jane and I were in the mood for some inexpensive italian food then we would go to Cafe Retour. I absolutely adore their lunch menu because it came with soup and bread. There were also plenty of things to choose from and they had an extensive menu of baked potatoes (sadly, we both didn’t try it because it was more expensive than the pasta). The soup tasted runny and wasn’t that good, but we always managed to eat it all! As you can see, the bread was pretty tiny and thin. But, as it was so cheap we couldn’t complain. Favorite Find: Bourough Market

Borough Market Excuse the red car that ruined my picture. This was by far the highlight of my trip. Why? Because it combined: Food + Surprise all in one! We were on our way to see London Bridge but stumbled across this hidden gem instead. It is the largest market I’ve ever encountered and I am so in love with it. Tom, surprisingly, has never heard of it nor gone inside so we all decided to explore it.  They have a huge section of all cheese, beer, and vegetarian food. Tom went crazy and discovered his love for pickled radish. We also saw a place that sold: Reindeer meat, Kangaroo meat, and Zebra Meat!     Tom got this at the stand above, he said it was the best he’s ever had! The Sausage on a stick that we got. I barely tried it because it was so tiny, but cheap so I shouldn’t be complaining.       Something exotic. Reindeer burgers, Kangaroo burgers, and kangaroo fillet. Our Wangus burger. It was really good, but the meat …

Regency Restaurant in Brighton Pier

Day 2 { Brighton Pier }   Brighton pier was about two hours away and reminded me of San Francisco and Santa Monica, just with less rides. I wanted to try Fish and Chips (Thanks Sham for letting me know about it). So, Jennifer looked up a Fish and Chips restaurant and we headed towards that direction.  Regency Restaurant 131 King’s Road, Brighton, East Sussex BN1 2HH, United Kingdom What we ordered Yay! My fish & Chips! Mostly everyone in the restaurant was hunched over and enjoying this delicious dish. Out of four people (Me, Tom, Poppy, and Jennifer) 3 of us got Fish and Chips while Jennifer got the chicken. We also all got the Cod, and I remember there was another option. It was amazingly good, I only like Salmon but I was so in love with this dish. From now on, I’m going to YELP some Fish & Chip places in Long Beach and eat there.   Price: £5.25 !!!! So surprised that it was so CHEAP.  Jennifers chicken. I didn’t see it on the restaurant …

Wildwood Restaurant, Maidstone

37-41 Earl Street, Maidstone ME14 1PF, United Kingdom +44 1622 755339 Wildwood Restaurant First of all, England is so expensive. Of course, I knew that… but I didn’t know to which extent. As Tom is vegetarian, we were limited to certain restaurant choices and decided to come here. Since Tom and his parents rented a cottage in the countryside, we had to drive about 30 minutes to get here. The restaurant itself was very cozy and nice.  What we ordered Wild Mushroom & Truffle Oil Pizza £9.95 = 15.55 USD I’m usually very easy when it comes to food, but this was horrible. Please do not order it! We couldn’t taste the Truffle Oil at all. Jennifer expected it to taste like the Truffle pizza at CPK, but we were both very disappointed with it. She even said that, “We could make a better pizza at home.”  Chicken Burger £9.95 = 15.55 USD This def helped the sour mood after the pizza. The chicken was cooked to perfection, and it filled me up. Margherita Pizza £6.95 = …

Suzuki Cafe Company 鈴木珈啡館

Suzuki Cafe Company   Shop L407, 4/F, The ONE, 100 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui For Jane and I’s last meal together, I was debating between Cafe Habitu or another place that was near the avenue of stars (overlooking the harbor). I meant to send her the two different websites so she could browse the menu, but I made a mistake and sent the Cafe Habitu website to her twice… so we decided to just meet up there. Cafe Habitu is located in THE ONE shopping mall in TST; but after trying to find it for a while we gave up and chose Cafe Suzuki. We chose it out of plenty of other restaurants because it looked inexpensive, there was a dinner set, and they had just completed their outside patio. Sadly, it was raining that day so we were not able to sit outside, and the view was blocked… but it wasn’t too bad as the restaurant , itself, was very cute and classy.  The Menu Click here to see the full menu  What we ordered:   …

Mong Kok Food Diaries : Ocio Dessert

MK FOOD DIARIES: Dessert @ Ocio Shop 5, G/F, Tsui Yuen Mansion, Phase2, 2-20 Kwong Wa Street ,Mong Kok 旺角廣華街2-20號翠園大廈二期地下5號鋪 https://www.facebook.com/OCIOKITCHEN It was very hard for me to find a good dessert place in Hong Kong, I just grew accustomed to eating the hot fudge sundae and calling that “dessert”. Thanks to Sham’s friend, we were introduced to Ocio! Lucky for me, it’s close to my hostel so we made sure to visit it another time before I left.  On the outside, it looks quite plain and small but inside it was so cozy and homey! Everytime we went, there were these two men working and their service was quite good. Our water cups were always full and they were more than happy to explain the menu to us! I liked them so much that I followed them on Instagram and now on Facebook (where I got the first picture from).  I really wanted to take Jane here for our last meal together, but decided on something else at the last minute. Ocio also carries …

BLT BURGER Review TST

BLT BURGER, TST Shop OT301-301A, 3/F, Ocean Terminal, Harbour City, 17 Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui For Tom’s last dinner in Hong Kong we decided to head to TST and eat at BLT BURGER. Since Tom had no clue where he wanted to go, Rachel took it upon herself to find a restaurant that took AMEX (for me), had vegetarian food (for Tom) and Western food. We wanted to go somewhere nice, so we all agreed on choosing TST. Now, I’ve ate at 2 other burger places : The Diner and BURGEROOM (twice) and out of all of them… I think BLT Burger was my favorite. They are all around the same price, but I love BLT BURGER because 1. It is in a better area (larger), 2. It has a great all day burger combo deal, and 3. It tastes better and has more options when it comes to food.  Out of all three restaurants… I think the DINER is the worst one.  Click below for more food pictures + All day Burger Combo Pic
